Berry Tarts

I'm by no means close to going vegan, but one of my friends, Mallory, is, and we've been exploring different recipes and food combinations so that we can all enjoy eating together! Often times she comes over to make dinner (such as our spaghetti squash with homemade tomato sauce the other week), and for Valentine's Day Corinne, her sister and my big, made her Berry Tarts from a Pinterest recipe.

They were quite delicious!

Throwback...

Getting closer to graduation has made me a little nostalgic. One of the reasons why I continue to blog, albeit sporadically, is that these internet forums are my way of documenting my life. I was never a big journal keeper, but blogging has always been in my life since I was a freshman or sophomore in high school. I was perusing my old, old blog and musing through the periods when I tried my hardest to be artistic. I never had friends who fully got my Lula Mag lovin' side, and I could never quite capture the looks and aesthetics of my favorite blogs of the time, but I did come away with some pretty funny pictures. I've gone through a very long time of feeling creatively stunted, and I'm starting to feel it creep back bit by bit (or I hope it's that!). Anyhow, here are some throwback pictures to my adolescence. Gosh, I feel old.
Ah that hair... I remember liking this picture because I looked chesty.
Remember that phase where everyone was going nuts over Sea of Shoes? And she had this cool
vintage thing going on? This was my attempt of replication-- my mom's dress from the eighties.
Shoulder pads and all
The first of many ribbons to come. Instead of the soror-girl thing, I tried for whimsical.
Still love that dress! Might be in my closet.
My friend's film camera. I love everything about this picture! That kid was my ride
home at the time.
PS Happy Valentine's Day to all you lovers!

26. Do something absolutely crazy

So, today I mark one of my fifty things off my list. I did something crazy and auditioned for a play! I haven't auditioned since I was in middle school and was a chorus member in Bye, Bye Birdie. One of the senior theses is doing the play, Bachelorette by Leslye Headland. It inspired a movie of the same name in 2012, and it's on Netflix (pretty funny!). I get stage fright pretty bad, and I've literally never taken an acting class or anything. I did it to do something I've never really done before, and in an area I'm not normally comfortable. I doubt I was cast, but I'll obviously update if they somehow think I did alright!

[Sorority Stuff] Bid Day!

Our whole chapter!
In sorority terms, Bid Day is our Christmas. After a long recruitment period of practicing, constant talking, and, on the occasion, being scolded, everything that's promised happens and each sorority has a group of brand new girls to call sisters. Even if recruitment puts you in the worse mood ever (which it did for me junior year), bid day more than makes up for it. This year, more than even mine or the one last year, was probably my absolute favorite. Instead of having inside (technical difficulties), we had it out in Martha Washington Square. First are the mid-morning pictures of everyone.
Facetiming one of our sisters while she studies abroad in Hong Kong!
The seniors, in all our disfunction.
Reppin' our job ;)
Swimmers & Swammers. Now there's more to add!
The comes the actual introductions. Basically, each girl is introduced by recent alumnae, and we cheer at the top of our lungs. Clapping, chanting, hugging, and squealing all ensue, and even the introverts basque in the fun of it. Seniors get to go up and grab a girl, and this year we gave them sailboats with their names on them and little tiaras. This year was also special because it was the Greek Life adivsor's last year. The Alpha Chi's (AXQ) did something really sweet where they made her an honorary alumna initiate!
Afterwards, we took pictures with all the new members. (I probably have more pictures from my bid days than when I studied abroad!) We also grabbed lunch with everyone since, after all, all the excitement makes everyone hungry.
Aren't we cute?
Then we send them back to their rooms for an hour or so in order to prepare for the party we throw them. Since our theme was "Come Sail Away with ZTA," we decorated the Skybox with all sorts of nautical decor (like fishing nets, navy banners, etc). We also have a tradition where we parade around campus in our bid day shirts and give the girls shirts to change into.

Over all, it was a GREAT Bid Day, and I'm so sad it's my last!
