Capri, Italy

So I'm seriously going nuts not traveling at all this year (it's been nine months since I've been on a plane!). I've decided to start a post series to help me cope with missing all of the beautiful places I've been to in the past few years of my life, and the first one I'm missing badly is Capri.

I went in junior year of high school and fell in love with how beautiful the island was.

One day I'll be back. I'll take another trip around the island to see that aquamarine water, then I'll take the lift up over a grove of lemon trees, taste lemon and vanilla gelato from the stand right at the top, and take in all the beautiful roads and storefronts. Of course I'll make a stop in one of my favorite places in the world--the Gardens of Augustus. If memory serves, there's this little perfume factory right in the middle that makes lemon and floral fragrances. I bought the lemon in 2008, and I'm sorely missing it even now.

Oh, and since my style is much improved from when I was sixteen, this is how I'd tour the little island. Jet Set: Capri

That Work Grind...

Sorry I'm being lame and not posting much. Life has been school-work-social-sleep. Sometimes even eating is forgotten in all the hooplah! I promise I'll get back on the horse once I balance everything out.

World Suicide Prevention Day

My college suffered a loss last night from apparent suicide, and we're all grieving right now whether we knew the fellow student or not. Today also happens to be Suicide Prevention Day. I'm not going to fill this post with sentimentality, but just know that you are never as alone as you think and your death would affect more people than you know. #shoremenstrong

Inspirational Monday...

You know, for as much as we push girl power in our society--to the point where sometimes I even roll my eyes--, I find that somehow it's still necessary. And not just for girls, for both parties. Something like individual power. If someone's hurting you? Speak up. If someone's being mean to you? Speak up. If someone is taking advantage of you? Punch them in their awful face. I'll probably write a more extensive article on this at one point, but for today I'd like to share some things I've found to be a inspirational when it comes to inspiring individual power. I love that these are top 40 songs right now!

Sarah Bareilles' "Brave"
"And since your history of silence
Won't do you any good,
Did you think it would?
Let your words be anything but empty.
Why don't you tell them the truth?"

Katy Perry's "Roar"
"Now I'm floating like a butterfly
Stinging like a bee I earned my stripes
I went from zero, to my own hero."

Happy Monday!

Where I've Been...

Hello! I know I've been absent from blogging lately, and that's because I'm trying to be a real person! I have the best classes this semester (three English!), plus a fun job (even if it is 35 minutes away!), and some pretty great friends to hang out with. I've been a little bit busy, but things are starting to stabilize, and I've begun my usual lock-ins in the library with the intention of getting work done ahead of time (no end of year stress!). Some new things about the apparently new me:
  1. I like iced coffee. That Dunkin Donuts Coolatta? AMAZING.
  2. I go to bars...
  3. I go out on Thursday nights here...
  4. I enjoy running shorts in bright, obnoxious colors
  5. I bought a pair of $50 flip flops.y
  6. I also wear wedges/heels every time I work
Don't worry, though. Some things are pretty much the same:
  1. Half the time I may be early or late...
  2. Tea time three hundred times a day is still a must.
  3. I get sleep easily and want movie nights
  4. I get distracted my social media
  5. I bought a pair of $1 sunglasses
  6. I walk barefoot or in sandals almost every other hour of the day.
